Blackjack Card Counting

It all started way back in 1958, when Dr. Edward O. Thorp coined the idea of beating the game of Blackjack. After four years, in 1962, he wrote the book Beat the Dealer. In the book, he presents various techniques to keep track of counting blackjack cards that are already played and predict the cards that are still left in the deck. When the book hit the book stalls, people rushed to buy it for the promises it offered. And indeed, the book delivered what it promised. Thousands of Blackjack players reaped the benefits provided by the counting blackjack cards techniques in the book. The book soon became a cult figure among Blackjack players for the card counting tips, techniques and advices it offered at that time.

After the success of the book, many Blackjack enthusiasts and experts came together to form different Blackjack teams. While many of those teams could not announce their presence in public, the MIT Blackjack Team did. In early 1980s, mathematicians and students from different universities were grouped together as the MIT Blackjack Team. It was the first one to practice the counting blackjack cards techniques presented by Dr. Thorp in his book to win billions at Blackjack tables around the world. This group worked till 2002.
